I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and can help you prepare for breastfeeding before your baby is born, help you through your first few very important days of breastfeeding and also assist you through any problems you may encounter along the way throughout your entire breastfeeding experience.
My passion to help breastfeeding moms and babies began after the birth of my first child in 1998. We definitely had our share of obstacles to overcome including latch difficulties, nursing strikes, sore nipples, plugged ducts, mastitis, problems pumping and storing milk, and trouble nursing in public. My daughter and I prevailed with the help of supportive pediatricians, friends, and family. Over the years, I continued to learn more about how to overcome breastfeeding difficulties as I nursed my subsequent daughters born in 2001, 2004, and 2007 and by assisting my friends. I finally earned my Lactation Consultant Certificate from UCSD in San Diego in 2011 after completing coursework at the UCSD Extension and internships at the Palomar/Pomerado Health system. I officially became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in October, 2011 after passing the exam. I started my private practice in Escondido, CA in 2012 under the name, Naturally Simple Baby. Since moving to Spokane, I decided to rename my breastfeeding support services to acknowledge the reality that breastfeeding is often not natural or simple. I strive to make breastfeeding support accessible and fair for all mothers.
